Tree Farm Season Starts Before Thanksgiving This Year: Where Savannah Lakes Can Cut a Christmas Tree in 2026

The Christmas tree farms around Sango open earlier than a lot of us expect. Kandi Kane Christmas Tree Farm starts selling on Friday, November 20, 2026. Country Lane Christmas Tree Farm and Big Sky Farm TN both open the next morning. That puts the busiest tree weekend of the year the Saturday before Thanksgiving, with turkey shopping still ahead.

The window is short, too. Big Sky's last posted public day is December 13. Country Lane's 2026 calendar currently lists dates only through November 29. Last season, one farm near Clarksville stayed open only until its trees sold out, and another set its final day by inventory. If you want to walk a field and cut your own tree, plan for November. December is when you take what's left.

The 2026 calendar, side by side

Here's what each farm has posted for 2026 as of mid-October:

Farm Address First 2026 day Posted 2026 schedule
Kandi Kane Christmas Tree Farm 2950 N Hinton Rd, Clarksville Friday, Nov. 20 Opening date posted; 2026 hours not yet listed
Country Lane Christmas Tree Farm 2518 Battle Creek Rd, Springfield Saturday, Nov. 21, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 21 to 22, then Black Friday Nov. 27 through Sunday Nov. 29
Big Sky Farm TN 264 N Centerpoint Rd, Portland Saturday, Nov. 21, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Twelve public days through Sunday, Dec. 13
Erin's Farm 7000 Hodges Rd, Cunningham Not yet posted Dates page still shows the 2025 season

Kandi Kane calls November 20 "the Friday before Thanksgiving." That's when its choose-and-cut Blue Spruce goes on sale, along with pre-cut Fraser and Canaan firs and wreaths. Country Lane describes itself as sitting between Nashville and Clarksville. Its 2026 page lists opening weekend as Saturday and Sunday, November 21 and 22. Two of its entries don't agree on Sunday hours, so check that one day on the farm's site before you go.

So the opening dates are within a day of each other. Where the farms really differ is how long they stay open.

Why the season closes on inventory, not on a date

None of these farms is promising trees through Christmas week. Big Sky has published a full 2026 schedule, and it ends December 13. Country Lane's visible 2026 dates end November 29, the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Last year's pattern explains why. In its 2025 roundup of area tree farms, Clarksville Now reported that Kandi Kane would keep its Friday, Saturday and Sunday hours "until they sell out." The same article said Erin's Farm would set its final day "based on inventory." A choose-and-cut field holds only so many trees ready to harvest each year. At both farms, the stock of trees decided when the season ended.

That changes how you should plan. The first weekend has the fullest fields. Thanksgiving weekend is the last stretch with several farms open on the same days. After that, one farm or another might still have trees, but the selection gets thinner each weekend.

What each farm actually sells

Since you'll be choosing between farms on the same weekend, it helps to know what each one offers.

Kandi Kane is the only one of the four with a Clarksville address. Its choose-and-cut trees are Blue Spruce, and its pre-cut trees are Fraser and Canaan firs. The farm adds a 2.41% service charge to every credit card sale, so bring cash if you'd rather skip the fee. Kandi Kane has posted price lists, but they're labeled for the 2025 season. Expect 2026 prices once the farm opens.

Country Lane in Springfield sells choose-and-cut and pre-cut trees, plus wreaths and garland. Its season page lists hot cocoa and cider and a Letters to Santa mailbox. Its posted price list is labeled for 2025, so prices may change.

Big Sky Farm TN in Portland is the farthest of the three by address and offers the most. You can choose and cut your own tree, buy a pre-cut Fraser fir, or take home a living tree in a container to plant after the holidays. The farm will also deliver your tree and pick it up after Christmas. Its wreaths come in three styles, called Bare, Signature and Luxe, in 20, 22 and 26 inch sizes. It sells White Pine and Fraser Fir garland. The farm's website says it won the Tennessee State Fair Grand Champion Christmas Tree award in 2026.

Erin's Farm in Cunningham hasn't posted 2026 dates yet. Its website describes choose-and-cut White and Virginia Pine and pre-cut Douglas firs. Last year Clarksville Now reported that the farm opened the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Treat that as a guide, not a promise for 2026.

The extra events at Big Sky

Big Sky is the only farm here that has posted a 2026 events calendar beyond tree sales. These events fall in the same short window:

  • Big Sky at Night, Saturdays Nov. 21, Nov. 28 and Dec. 5, 4 to 7 p.m., with live music, Santa, a night wagon ride, a live nativity and food
  • Wreath Decorating Class, Tuesday Dec. 1 and Thursday Dec. 3, 5 to 6 p.m., with refreshments and time to shop the farm store
  • Cookies with Santa, Saturday Dec. 12, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., for ages 2 to 10. Adults don't need a ticket.

Big Sky at Night and the wreath classes are ticketed, and so is each child at Cookies with Santa. When Big Sky's page was captured, it said tickets would be available "SOON." Check the farm's site in early November.

The December 5 overlap

Saturday, December 5 is the busiest date on the holiday calendar. Big Sky at Night runs from 4 to 7 p.m. that evening. Montgomery County holds its Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony the same day from 4:30 to 5 p.m., with the Lighted Christmas Parade right after at 5 p.m. That afternoon, Spiritfest runs from 2 to 4 p.m. at Downtown Commons, 215 Legion St. Spiritfest brings live music, Santa, children's activities, food trucks, and cookies and hot chocolate.

The evening events overlap. A Portland farm night and a downtown Clarksville parade are both on the calendar at 5 p.m., so you'll need to pick one. One way to fit everything in is to get your tree on an earlier weekend. Then December 5 is free for downtown, or you can make Big Sky at Night on November 21 or November 28 instead.

A way to plan the season from Savannah Lakes

Putting the dates together, here's one way the season could go:

  1. Friday, Nov. 20. Kandi Kane opens a day before everyone else. It's your best chance at the first pick of its choose-and-cut Blue Spruce.
  2. Saturday, Nov. 21. Country Lane and Big Sky both open. Big Sky stays open until 7 p.m. that day, so you can cut a tree in the afternoon and stay for the first Big Sky at Night.
  3. Friday, Nov. 27 through Sunday, Nov. 29. This is the last stretch that Country Lane's 2026 page currently covers. It's also the last weekend when both Country Lane and Big Sky have posted hours.
  4. Saturday, Dec. 5. Choose between Big Sky at Night and the county's tree lighting and parade downtown.
  5. Saturday, Dec. 12 and Sunday, Dec. 13. Big Sky holds Cookies with Santa on Saturday, and Sunday is its final posted day, open noon to 5 p.m.

Clarksville Now's 2025 roundup offered one more practical tip for any farm: bring your own rope and gloves, and a saw in case the farm doesn't provide one. At Kandi Kane, cash avoids the 2.41% card fee. Farms update their pages through November, so check hours the morning you go. That matters most for Kandi Kane's 2026 hours and any opening date Erin's Farm posts.
